Some more happenings before the VW season was to an end.
Malmö was one of the last meetings for this year. It was a big success. Wide5 won two more trophies and one more buss to the club.

Nu är det dax för lite vårmönstring. Vi hänger på vid Valen Custom shop när de arangerar sitt Spring brake. Vi samlas vid Valen (Bongo bowlinghallen, ner bakom Cheapy) vid 11:00. De rullar åt ett håll och vi åt ett annat vid 12 så får vi se om vi träffas på vägen. De som vill hänga på kvällens party får köpa biljetter på Valen.

New 6v generator

On the way back to my home from Rättvik did my generator die. Can't find out what the problem is with it. Now have I got a newer one that I got from my attic.

Nu har man fått i en gamal radio i bilen. Vilket grymmt monoljud man fick.

Akkord 715 transistorradio med tillhörand kassett.

Nu är alla mätarna i funktion med. Kul att alla fungerade.

Mina Marchal har även de fått lite störm och lyser så fint med sitt gula sken

Lite nytt godis kom hem i brevlådan för någon dag sedan. De sitter även de monterade nu.

Some weeks ago when I was in Norrköping did I have the favor to visit the guys at the
VW Maffian. They meet every Wendnesday at Oscarshäll. Oscarshäll is an old Café some kilometers outside Norrköping. It was fun to meet Sverker, Lars, Mettis and the other guys that I just talk with over internet othervise.

Moped rally in Veddige

One more thing that some of us in WIDE FIVE Sweden does is driving mopeds. Michael is the one that has the most outstanding mopeds.

We was to lazy this morning and instead of driving the 22km to the start of the moped rally did we loaded up our mopeds in Michaels VW samba and drove with that to the rally.
This was the meeting place and the start area for the moped race.

WIDE FIVE Sweden meeting

For the second time did WIDE FIVE Sweden had a meeting in Varberg at Sibylla. Tonight did 6 person participate in the meeting. All together are we 12 guy's. WIDE FIVE Sweden is a part of the amarican WIDE FIVE Florida. WIDE FIVE did start in 1995 in Florida. I meet this guy's and girls when I was over in March. They have some simple rules that I liked:

Own a VW pre -67
Have fun and drink beer :D

Niklas -65 is so far away from a trailer queen you can get. This winter did he load his snowboard equipment and drived with it all the way up to Trysil in Norway. It's just 577km one way. Talk about daly driver.

Making new spindles

Fredrik and I went to Michael "wholesale dealer" Gustafsson to get some help with pressing out the king pin, bushing and press I back again on Fredrik's new dropped spindles. Everything went well besides when Fredrik should have then put together again. Fredrik was a little upset and tried to hammer them together again.
First everything started very well.
Fredrik is just looking when Michael makes the job. In the background can you see Michaels Samba bus. Michael has what I think 8 other VW's.
Now starting Fredrik to help Michael out. He has to do the easy job that he's now used t, pumping and more pumping.
Now is it time to put the spindle together. At first it looked OK but then Fredrik is starting to HAMMER it together. Lucky him that he had me and Michael there to cool him down or he would never had any droped spindles today ;)

I was out at Daniel garage and helped him out with some stuff. I took some pictures of his -64 that he just got out after some years work. I did also took some pictures of his awsome what I know one of the kind VW type 1 from -65. This -65 has just bin out on the roads 9971km. It's like brand new. If you have 12 000€ in the pocket burning and want this extraodinary VW, give me a mail and I help you out to get in contact with Daniel. Now I just let the picture talk.

Göran Lundgren

After the visit at Bengt's Porsche heaven did we vistit Mange Lundgrens father Göran. Göran had made some new support for my transmission.

Göran is showing what he is working on at the moment. Not too tell anyone to much must I say is it the most well made and advanced VW engine I ever seen. I have been "playing" with VW since -88 so I have seen a lot during the years.

Visit at Bengt's Porsche heaven

Me and Christer from www.dalhems.com/ did visit Bengt, Bengt lives not far away from Halmstad. Bengt is a man with a lot of experience about Porsche 356 but also VW Type 1. His place is full of 356 parts and cars. We was here to check out Christer's 356 that he will start to work on shortly.

This was the first thing that meet me when I went into his shop. This would fit perfect into my VW type 1 from -59.
If you have about 30 000€ and want to buy a Porsche 356 send me a mail and I will help you to get in contact with Bengt.
This 356 is untouched. The patina is just lovely.

It was not enough with one nice engine waitng for a ride. Bengt had on more ready. Some guys can't get enough.

Since last vist has he done a stunning job. He has already bin out on the road with it and just have some minor stuff lrft to do on it.

Finally did I get one day for my VW. I did finnish the alumium T-bars and also some painting on my new center cap for my BR

T-bars and the new NOS Marchal reversing light.
New Porsche 911 style headlight glass.
New BKC tattooing on the VW.
Not enough slamed to the ground at the moment.
To bad that I can't drive it at the moment.
New billet style centercup´with SpeedWell logga.
Soon will the engine be inside it too. I will start to change it during next stopp.
This motor will soon have a face lift.

Lakeland VW Classic

After the party at Rhoden Rd did we drive to a hotel in Bartow for some hours sleep. In the morning did we meet up with all the guys from the party. We had a quick stop at Mc Donalds for some fast food and then was i time to continue at Lakeland VW Classic.

After the visit at Bills place in West Palm Beach did we drive up against Daytona and further on to Lakeland. The plan was to visit the Lakeland VW classic. When we finally arrived to Lakeland did Bill told us that we had to drive to Fort Meade for a party. If it had bin in Fort Meade had it bin close :) When we was driving did my thoughts go to the movie Deliverance. Lucky me didn't we run out of gas :D

Finally did we see a sign "VW show" at the Rhoden Rd. This was not the place yet but not so far away.

This was a very nice area with open field and alot of orange plantations.
Endless straight roads. I just loved to drive on this roads.
This was what meet us when we arrived to Mike's and Serena's place.

Mike's very nice Texas brown Typ-1 from 56. Mike has just finished it. The VW is not 100% done. There are still some small adjustments to do.
Chrome BRM to the brown colour are perfect.
The intreior is nice but not perfect. Mike will change the carpet to one from Himmelservice when he got some time.
The engine is brand new and build by Bill aka MrClean.
Most of the parts is new repro parts.

Later did Joe arrive. Joe is the guy behind the biggest VW meeting in Florida, WinterJam weekend in Daytona.

The 6th day

Now was it time to drive up to Daytona beach. We did drive down to West Palm beach on the way to check out my new house.

My new house. Unfortunately must I build a new bigger garage :D

My dad was tired to sit beside me so he bought his own new Audi that he could follow us with.

We stopped at Ron Jon at Cocco beach to buy some stickers and t-shirts.

The Ron Jon store was huge. Surf shopen in Varberg looked like the entrance compare to this place.

On the way down to the beach did we see this nice Westfalia bus.

To cold in the air, I just refuse to take my t-shirt of.
Michael looks happy to be in the same pictures as som girls. They are pointing at the good looking guy behind him , that would be me i think ;)

We did visit Bill alias MrClean the other night to pick up all my stuff I had order.

Little Christmas Eve at Bill's garage. Ken's boy help me out to open up all the boxes.

Bill has a big and nice garage that I guess is everyones dream that restor cars.

Bill's friend Leroy arrived with his very nice Ghia. Leroy have done all the work on the Ghia him self, even the painting of it.

Michael did find an old "broken" tranny. He started to take it apart at once. Bill Ken and Leroy listen carfully on what he says.

In the middle of the lesson did a Service manager from Lamborghini in West Palm Beach arrive. He needed som help with adjusting his carburettors. Strange that a service guy don't know how to adjust some carburettors.

Back to the lesson again. Time to put it together again. Michael could not find anything wrong with it. Now even the mistery man on the left side show up. Sorry, forgott your name and not even Bill know who you are when i asked for your name :D

Some heat and some hits with the hammer and it was together again.

Don't even dream about to steal Bill's cars. This monsters will eat you alive. Some beers and pizza and Ken was waisted drunk ;)

Silver dollar raceway

This year was not as good as last year. I missed the big boys to much. No Damon Harmond, No Oliver Frey and so on. Otherwise was it a good meeting with some nice cars. I wich it hade bin some more cars at the show and shine. I hade the honer to judge in the show and shine. That was not to bad but not to difficult either. In my opinion was there just a few really nice cars that was standing for the top notch.
The racing was there something strange over, but I can't put my finger on what it was.

On the way to Silver dollar raceway did we take the wrong way and past this closed down petrol station.

Holiday Inn, Perry

After a long day at All Speed motor works did everyone drive down to Holiday Inn in Perry.
The party at the parking lot is the best thing this week end. I let the pictures talk buy it self.

My dad is standing on the right side and wonder what guys and girls is this? Animals, rednecks or just a bunch of nice people.

Dyno

After some sadly things did I now continue with my trip here in USA.

After the arrival with all the cars was it now time for the event of the day, the dyno.

Many of the guys was realy dissapointed after their run on the dyno. Most of them that was here last year hade lost some power. Some of them up to 15hp.

My deep thoughts will go to his common law wife and his kids.

Time to conclude the first day of my trip now.
Chico and NO_H2O arrive with Kevin's rail buggie. MrClean makes the first inspection of it.

Finally the best car in show, show up. "In my opinion". Better late then ever. This ride was one very nice ride. Congrats to a hell of a ride Justin. If you just learn how to drive it will be a fast ride on the track too.

BKC Dyno Day 2009

The first we did see when we arrived to "All speed motor works" where the Dyno day was held was a green car. I know that MrClean had big expectations for this weekend. As many other guys did it not went out in that way at all. Due to the warm weather compair to last year did most of the cars drop atleast up to 15hp.
It's green and a bad ass car.
Walker's very nice 60 rag.
Poker, Tanbug and Gil are in place and redy to go.
Lindy arrive with his cool rides. Lindy has the shop Herrel bug shop Thanks alot Lindy for the glovebox grip.

Kevin's place, still day 1

After more then 26 hours travel was we finally in USA. We got the car at the airport after some search and argue. We tock the SUV that I had ordered and haded down against Mcdonough to Kevin's place. When we arrived where they still up and made som adjustments on his new rail buggy. Kevin had Anibal Chico and Ralph from Califonia on visit. Chico is well known VW engine builder and has the companies WWW.STEELBUGIN.COM and CHICO PERFORMANCE RACING.
Kevin did't look to happy at the moment with the visit. You can already see Michael teaching Chico how to build engines.

Now Kevin starts to get warm. 3 o'clock in the morning zzzzzzzzzzzz.

Now Micheal starts to be hotter then hot. Chico listen with big ears.

I have just started to make something new with my 66. Follow my blog and you will see what will be done with it.

On Friday will I, my dad and Michael fly over to the USA for nearly two weeks travel. We will visit BKC Dyno Day 2009 and Silver Dollar Showdown #8 this weekend and I guess we will visit 3rd Annual Lakeland Classic the weekend after that.

Weekend garage visit at Daniels

This week end did i help my friend Daniel with his type1 from 64. I had helped him to put on new dropped spindles on the front beam and now was it time to put the beam on. Daniel has a load of nice cars. Just to mention some of them. A samba bus, a 54 type1 cab, a 64 that just have bin on the streets for 9700km.

The 64 that will get a mild Resto-look when it's out on the streets.

The Porsche rims will be nice on this VW.

The 205/70-15 in the back will be perfect.

This green type1 from 56 will soon be for sale. If you are interested in buying it send me an e-mail and I will transfer it to Daniel

The VW was restored for over 10 years ago but are still in very good condition. It has won some meetings around in Sweden some years ago.

The interior on the VW is very nice.

The 1915cc engine has about 150hp.

Now over to some teasers of his typ1 cab from 54. This car will be one very extraordinary car. The restoration is very well done. I can't wait enough to see this on on the streets.

The interior is just marvelous.
Also the back of the car has all the right parts.

New garage visit

Last week did i visit Koolman and his garage in Partille outside Gothenburg. Koolman has his garage not far away from where he lives. He has it together with a guy that is building a what it looks like a street sleeper.
The white Variant type 3 are for sale for other projects. It has some dents and are not in perfect condition but can be a very nice ride for the summer with smal amount of work. If you are intrested send me an e-mail and i transfer it to Koolman.

Koolman also has a lot of parts for it as new exhaust and some more stuff.

One of Sweden's coolest VW clubs have just started. "HillBilly VW"
They even have there own radio chanel. Klick on on the left side on there site to start it. This guys have the right feeling how life should be. The only bad thing is that it's just in Swedish :( But who knows maybe they will make it in English to.

Der Brückenrenners

Yesterday did i visit the guys at the VW club Der Brückenrenners.
Or as they say "It´s a conspiracy, not a club" This very nice guys try to meet every second week at BurgerKing in Kalmar. Most of the guys are from the island Öland just a bridge away from Kalmar.

The club started more or less in 1992 so most of the guys have long experience of mechanics on all kind of VW. For me is DBR famous for racing. This guys was one of the first I did know that was running with Type 4 engines here in Sweden.

The fun thing with this guy was that nearly everyone show up this evening. Just one or two guys was missing. It was three from the begining but after som hour did Tomas show up to. Tomas is well know for his racing on the dragstrip.
A big thanks for the vist and I hope to see you soon again for some VW chat.

BRM

I got my new BRM rims yesterday painted in anthracite colour. I will have 6 1/2" for the back wheels and 4 1/2" for the front wheels.
I did not get the front rims because some misunderstanding with the delivery. I hope I will get them next week.
I could not wait to see how it will look like so just had to put the 205/70-15 tires on the rims today.

VW Rod, second pit stop at Henkes garage

After the motor start up failure and some food at MAX was it time for this evenings second garage visit. This time did we drive to Henkes garage. Henke is well known for his bikes and pick up that was illustrated in Swedish car magazine Wheels.

Henke also do alot of flake painting on cars, bikes, helmets ans so on.

At the moment is Henke working hard to finnish his last project. A VW type 1 Bonneville hot rod. I think this Rod will be one very nice and potent VW Rod with alot of cool stuff.

Thomas is study the tyre. Diagonal Firestone black wall.
The front beam are made by Henke.
The body is very well made with good lines.
This is one of Henkes bikes. This is a Swedish bike named Svalan "Swallow". You can also see his blue, flake painted second bike.

The motor for the blue flaked bike. Henke is waiting for some parts for it after a major brake down last summer.
Most of the parts for the motor are very rare trim parts from Morgo.

This week will i travel over to the east cost of Sweden and meet some of the guys from the DBRVW.

Visit up north in Sweden, start up new build engine

Direct from Thomas place did we drive to the Citroën garage. This is the place were Henrik is working and also were he have his new build 2165cc engine. The 2165cc will be installed in a VW rod. More about that later.

Me and Thomas was loaded as you can be when you are going to start up a new engine. First did we have to make the last adjustments and put the rockers in place. After some adjustments and spark plugs in place was it time to put some motor oil in it.

Now the time had come to crank it up. On the first try did we have a leak on the gas line, second try was not better the cranking motor did not work as it should and we could not get oil pressure. The third try was the last one. The cranking motor did it's last turns before it burned. That was the end of that funny evening.

Thomas is checking the spark plugs and Henrik is doing the hard work with adjusting the fan belt.

After oil filling was it now time for the start up.

First try did the gas line leak at the hose couplings.

Visit up north in Sweden, first pit stop at SilverSoar

After my first stop in Gävle was the next way station at Thomas alias "SilverSoar" garage. He was working hard at the moment but of course not on any of his cars.
It looked exact the same as last visit ;) You can read some more about his cars at "SilverSoar"

This vert has everything in my opinion. It's just missing one thing, the right owner :D

Lucky that his very nice vert is standing in front of him so we barely can see him. Thomas has made a terrific work on this vert.

A nice car must have nice rims. Fuchs 4½"x15 with 135 in the front and Fuchs Deep 6" and M'H tyre.

The 2276cc engine is to bad not the fastest car up north. With the right driver and some adjustments would it be a killer.

There is no risk that Thomas will worn out the steering wheel or the Gene Berg shifter.

Here is the next project. A very nice 54 in good condition.
Thomas has so much goodies in his garage that even P-I from Borås should be jealous.

Garage visit at JN :s place

Today did I make a stop at JN:s garage.
After nearly 700km drive was I finally in Gävle. A fast check in to the hotel and some dinner then was I back into the car again. This evening did I drive to Jörgen Nilsson alias JN. He lives in the middle of nowhere close to the small village Årsunda about 10 km from Sandviken. The reason to the visit was that I had a welding helmet for him.

JN is working on what are going to be a very interesting car for the summer. I can tell you all that it will be a classic Cal-Looker. I don't want to disclose to much about it but maybe it will have some flake paint and some classic engine-lid made in glass fibre. The interior will be simple with old Jazz racing seats and other classic Cal-Look stuff. In the future will it also have a big engine. Tomorrow will I continue this weeks trip up to Örnsköldsvik. When you are up there you never know what will happen :)

Weekend trip 2

Last Sunday did I and my friend Fredrik drive up to Nicklas In Linköping. Nicklas hade a nice VW typ1 from 59 for sale. After 3 hours drive was we there. The car was in good condition so I bought it.

Nicklas is telling me what's wrong with the car and what's good with it.
Inside the car looked great. The interior was as good as it cold be on a car from 59.
I'm examin the front of the car.
Here are we checking how much the speedo cable are bulding outside on a BRM rim. We did this to check if the BRM center cap would fit without and major work or bigger modification.
After some consideration did I by the VW. After loaded it up on the cart did we drive to Nicklas garage. His garage was loaded with alot of stuff. Some better stuff and some junk.

The Vuxhall was in very nice condition.
It's alwas fun to see all old stickers that was on the cars lon time ago. This sticker is about SOS and insurance company.
Nicklas has his very nice 60. This VW has just have close to 50000km on the speedo.
On the inside is this car like new.
Nicklas also has the perfect Cal-Look object from 67. This one is for sale. Send me a e-mail if you are intrested in buying it.
The 67 looks very nice on the inside to.
Another cool sticker. This is about thief protection.
Early morning and many hours drive and finaly on the way back home again.
Finaly home at it's new garage entrance.
I think this will be a nice ride fore this summer.

Weekend trip 1

Last weekend did I drive down to Hazze in the south part of Sweden. He lives not so fare away from Ängelholm in Skåne. Hazze is one of the members in the Swedish BUGPEOPLE

He is working as a upholsterer and will make a new roof for my TUMMELITEN

Hazze hade one new VW Rod at his place. This Rod s made buy the guys in BUGPEOPLE in just one day. Click at the link and read more about the W Rod and the club. This VW Rod is a cool ride andI know we will see alot more of it later this year.
